LETTER OF INVITATION

An invitation is a request to attend or participate in an event. It could be invitation to a meeting, conference, seminar, an exhibition, open house, product launching event, a party etc. We can invite persons to attend or to participate as speaker, presenter, or other roles.
Some event are purely business event such as meeting or conference. Some of them are semi-business events such as open house, company anniversary celebration or graduation ceremony. Some events are purey social es such as a brithday, engagement party, or wedding party.
An invitation letter serves the purpose of inviting a guest to a party, event or celebration while conveying more information than a traditional invitation card. It serves two purposes; one, to invite the individual to the event and two, to ensure that the person receiving the letter is going to attend.
Formal events (either bussiness or social) require formal invitation. A formal event refer to formally arranged event such as wedding recetion, inauguration ceremony. Informal events require informal invitation.
Formal invitation ussually is written in card (card type) and sometimes is handwritten. The format and the language is very standard. The language is also less personal.
There are two tenses used within the invitation letter, the present and the future. The present tense conveys information about the event and the future tense ensures the guest is going to attend.

Invitation letter have three parts :
  1. Invite the reader to attend or participate
  2. Inform reason for the event
  3. Inform the time, date and place of the event
